Box Cards

 

These box cards are a unique way to give a card!  They can fold flat to put in an envelope, then be bent a little so they can stand up.  I saw this idea for box cards from Emma at Creative Time For Me.

Here are the measurements:

• Card base: 5-1/2" x 8-1/4", score at 1/4", 3/4", 4-1/4", 4-3/4"

• Insert for the inside piece: 5-3/8" x 3-3/8"

Directions:

• After cutting your card base, decide how you want to cut your windows.  I used Stitched Rectangle dies for the greeting opening on both the pet cards and the Holiday cards.  I used the  Heart Punch Pack for the bottom window on the pet cards and the largest circle from the Layering Circle dies for the Christmas cards.  For the navy blue ornament card, I attached a sheet of Brightly Gleaming DSP (3-1/4" x 5-1/4") to the card BEFORE I die cut the shapes.

• If you want to stamp your card base, do that next.  

• Lay your insert piece underneath the window openings and stamp the greeting through the window (I forgot to do this on the video, and you will see the challenges it caused!).  If your other images fit through the window, you can stamp them through the opening as well, if not, mark the edges of your opening with a pencil, then stamp on the insert separately.

• Put adhesive on the 1/4" strip, attach it to the other end and shape it into a box (watch the video if you are unsure how to do this).

• You will need to slide your insert into the box and attach it where you want it.  I used glue on some cards and Stampin' Dimensionals on others (shown in the video).

• Decorate the front any way you want.

• To get the red scalloped heart, punch the non-scalloped heart out of red cardstock, then use the scalloped heart punch over the window you already punched and punch again.  Glue this piece to the card front. (Shown in video).

•  Christmas Tree card--I sponged Balmy Blue ink around the bottom part of the insert, and added liquid applique and glitter (heated with a heat gun) to get the puffy snow.

Scooby Snack Party Favors

Looking for a little snack to give out a pet-themed party?  These snacks are for humans rather than dogs, but of course, you could use dog treats instead.  I bought a large box of Scooby Snacks and put them in these smaller ziploc bags.

The little dogs are fussy cut from the Playful Pets Designer Paper.  You can see me making this project along with some other party favors HERE. 

Measurements:

• Tag base: 2" x 10", score at 5" (I used Cinnamon Cider and Gray Granite)
• DSP: 1-3/4" x 4" (The red polka-dot DSP came from a retired stack)
• 2" white circle and 2 1/4" black circle (use punches or Layering Circle Dies)
• White greeting piece: 1" x 2-1/4"

Pampered Pets

Have you seen the Playful Pet suite in the new catalog?  It's so adorable!  I don't even consider myself a pet person (although I have a dog), but I still couldn't wait to get it!  I think it was the colors in the DSP that drew me in!

The card I'm sharing today was cased from p. 40 of the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog.  It's a fairly simple card with just a little coloring.  You can see a video of me making it HERE.  These are the measurements and steps.

Measurements:

• Basic Gray Cardstock: 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", score at 4 1/4"
• Striped DSP: 4" x 3" (front); 2-3/16 x 5-3/4 (envelope flap)
• Whisper White Cardstock: 3" x 3-3/4" (front); 4" x 5-1/4" (inside)

Steps:

1. Stamp your greeting in Real Read ink on the small white cardstock piece.
2. Stamp your pets in black ink and color with Stampin' Blends or other coloring tools.  See my Facebook LIVE HERE for other options.
3. Wrap a small piece of twine across the top front of the white piece and tape it on back.  Tie another piece of twine into a bow and attach to the front with a glue dot.
4. Attach the DSP to the card front.
5. Stamp the small heart image in Basic Gray along the top and bottom edge of the card base.
6. Attach your white stamped piece to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.  Add the heart or bone charm with a glue dot.
7. Inside--Stamp the dog bowl on the inside card piece and color with Stampin' Blends.  Stamp some hearts in Real Red ink.
8. Attach the long strip of DSP to the envelope flap and trim off the extra.

This card is fairly quick and easy.  I've made several other projects with this darling set, but I'll save them for another post.
