Looking for a little Halloween gift for a friend or co-worker? These little treat pouches are just perfect! We made them at my recent craft class and when my daughter saw them, she liked them so much that she wanted to make them for her co-workers. The basic structure of the box is simple, but the design on the front of this particular box involved a decent amount of coloring and die-cutting, so we planned a Halloween crafting day! My daughter-in-law also joined the fun! We watched a cute Halloween Hallmark movie and made a dozen little treat pouches. So fun!
I found the idea for this box from In the Pink Designs by Cathryn. I can't find the video I watched now (I tweaked the measurements to make it wider), but you can see five other fun projects Cathryn made with this Spooky Halloween Suite HERE. You can watch me make this project on the video below:
Here are the measurements in inches:
- Granny Apple Green: 5 x 8-1/2; with 8-1/2" at the top, score at 3-1/2, 4-1/2, and 8; turn so the 5" side is at the top and score 1" in from each side.
- Cut along the score lines to make the box look like the picture below. You will need to cut in 1" on each side of the middle scored section to create the flaps (easier to understand in the video).
- DSP: 2-3/4 x 3-1/4
- Petunia Pop: 1/2 x 1-5/8
- Basic Black: scrap to die-cut the haunted house
- Daffodil Delight (left piece to put behind the windows): 8/16 x 2-1/8
- Daffodil Delight (right piece to put behind the windows): 5/8 x 1-3/8
- Basic White: scrap to stamp and die-cut the cat or dog
I used THESE mini flat velcro dots to hold the pouch closed. I tied the ribbon into a bow and attached it with a glue dot. We filled our pouches with candy.
I hope you give this little treat pouch a try. I think it would be great for Thanksgiving table favors, and Christmas stocking stuffers as well! You will find a list of supplies used at the end of this post.
