Bird Ballad Loveliness

The new catalog is here!  The new catalog is here!  It's always so much fun to see what's new!  I have so many favorites, but I especially love the Bird Ballad suite on pages 90-92.  Maybe it's because I have birds nesting in my garage at the moment.  They've made a home in my Christmas decorations.

The first thing I fell in love with from the Bird Ballad suite was the Designer Series Paper (DSP).  The photo really doesn't do it justice!

This paper makes any card look great.  Plus, there are so many fabulous images to fussy-cut.  Ironically, I'm giving directions today for a card that does not use the DSP.  Instead, it features the beautiful laser-cut cards that also go with the suite.

This was my process for making the card posted above:
  1. I cut a piece of Pool Party cardstock just slightly smaller than 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" to  put under the laser cut layer (trim 1/16 to 1/8 of each side so it doesn't stick out).  I attached it with a little glue around the edges.
  2. I stamped the bird image on 2 1/2" x 3 7/8" Very Vanilla cardstock and colored with the following Stampin' Blends combos: Pool Party, Crumb Cake, Old Olive, Flirty Flamingo, Daffodil Delight, and a little Pumpkin Pie for the beaks.
  3. I embossed "Hello" in white ink on crumb card stock and trimmed it to 1 1/8" x 5/16".  I attached that to the vanilla cardstock as shown.
  4. I die-cut the frame using the Stitched Rectangle Dies, then attached it to the stamped piece with foam adhesive strips.
  5. I used the Leaf Punch to punch out leaves in Very Vanilla cardstock.  I slightly bent the leaves in half to add more texture.  I attached them under my window piece with glue dots, then glued the whole piece to my card base.
  6. My final step was to add a bow tied with Pool Party shimmery ribbon (retired).  I used a glue dot to attach it.
I love how the card turned out!  My inspiration for this design came from Linda Parker.  See her gorgeous card HERE.

Join my card class on June 15 to make this card and three others with the Bird Ballad suite.  The class is $12, or free when you order the Free as a Bird bundle or suite from me.

Thank you for stopping by!  If you place an order of $50 or more in my online store in June and use the following hostess code: TTYBWHFY, you will receive the Bird Ballad trinkets as a free gift from me.
